Below is the complete 2008 schedule of Major Blue-Grey Events.  Please note that prospects invited to these events are from nominations sent to us and also from selections at the State and Regional Showcases held in June.

Blue-Grey - National Battle of the States I

Tampa Bay Devil Rays Spring Training Complex, St. Petersburg, FL - July 18, 19 & 20

This event features 200 of the top prospects representing 31 States.  There were over 60 colleges and Pro Scouts in attendance last year.  The event is a combination showcase and tournament.

Blue-Grey - National Battle of the States V & VI

Virginia Sports Complex, VA - July 29,30,31 and October 24, 25 & 26

The Virginia Sports Complex was chosen to be the host site for the Blue-Grey Battle of the States/Mid Atlantic as it is one of the finest Major League size four plexes on the East Coast.  Definitely adds to the Blue-Grey experience!

 

Blue-Grey Classic

Trenton Thunder – New Jersey (New York Yankee AA) – August 4-5
This Northeast Classic will feature Team New Jersey, Team New York, Team New England, Team Mid America, Team Mid Atlantic and Team Pennsylvania.

University of Cincinnati - July 26 and 27 - Features players from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and surrounding states selected from tryouts and nominations. The new baseball stadium is one of the top complexes in the country.

Mid Tennessee State University - Tennessee Classic - August  2 &3 This is our 5th  year holding this event.  Prospects from East, Mid and West Tennessee as well as Kentucky, Alabama and the Mid West will compete.  Last year 42 colleges attended as well as 8 Major League Teams.

New Britain Rock Cats Twins AA – CT - August 7,  & 8 

            This event in it’s second year, was a big success last year with over 40 colleges and 8 Pro Scouts recruiting New England and New York prospects.

 

 

Blue-Grey Classic

North Carolina Classic (formerly the Wake Forest  Classic) – Session I - August 4, 5 & 6.  Session II August 14, 15 & 16.  This three-day tournament, is held at historic Ernie Shore Stadium in Winston-Salem North Carolina (Chicago White Sox Affiliate).  Now in its seventeenth year, the event attracts over seventy colleges from the Mid-South Region as well scouts from most major league teams. Team New England, Team Pennsylvania, Team Southeast, Team North Carolina, Team Florida, Team Mid West and Team Mid Atlantic will compete.

 

 

Blue-Grey Classic

Lowell Spinners (Red Sox) Blue-Grey Showcase – June 24, 25 & 26 -  The Single A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox in Lowell Massachusetts. One of the classiest minor league complexes in the country.  Many of the current  players from the 2007 World Champion Red Sox have played at this venue. This event is designed for New England and New York prospects.  Those who compete in one of the three days above, will advance to the Best of New England Classic or other Classics in August.
 

 

Mid Atlantic Pro Classic

Norfolk Tides - VA – (Baltimore Orioles Triple A) August 8, 9 & 10 – This event is designed for sure fire Division I prospects as well as those that are projected to be drafted in June of 2009

 

 

 

Blue-Grey Showcase

Christopher Newport  – June 21.  One of the top baseball programs in Virginia, located near Virginia Beach in Newport News. This first year event promises to be a big recruiting success.

 

 

Blue-Grey Classic

Coastal Carolina University, SC - August 18 & 19.  Now in it’s 8th year featuring prospects from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Florida, the Northeast and beyond.  Last year there were 41 colleges and 12 Major League Teams in attendance to recruit our prospects.

 

 

Blue-Grey Classic

Erie Sea Wolves – PA - August 20, 21 & 22.  Perhaps the top AA Ball Park in the country.  Located in Lake Erie area of summer fun.  Although this is a first year event it should be a great one!

 

 

Blue-Grey Battle of the States II

Houston Astros Kissimmee Florida – August 22, 23 & 24  This event features 300 of the top prospects representing 31 states. There were over 70 colleges and Pro Scouts in attendance last year. The event is a combination showcase and tournament.

 

 

Blue-Grey Classic

Best of New England Classic - Lowell Spinners (Red Sox) Blue-Grey Classic– August  26, 27 & 28 -  The Single A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox in Lowell Massachusetts. Blue-Grey Battle of the States IV

Tempe Diablo Stadium Arizona – September 19, 20 and 21  

The Battle of the States IV at Tempe Diablo Stadium and Complex, features prospects from 16 states in a showcase/tournament format.  The event billed, as “The Battle of the Desert” will be attended by a host of colleges from all divisions as well as many Pro Scouts.


 

Blue-Grey - National Battle of the States III

Houston Astros Kissimmee Florida – October 24, 25 & 26 

This event features 350 of the top prospects in the Nation representing 33 States.  There were over 70 colleges and Pro Scouts in attendance last year.  The event is a combination showcase and tournament.  This years Battle will also include 30 International prospects.

Tampa Bay Devil Rays – December 6 & 7, This event is for underclassmen

 

 

CLASSIC SUCCESS RATE

During our fourteen years in promoting high school talent to the colleges, over 7200 of our prospects from Maine to Florida have gone on to partial or full baseball scholarships. We have also had 612 prospects drafted by Major League Baseball Clubs.


Nominations for Blue-Grey Classics (2008)

Nominations for the Blue-Grey Classics are currently being accepted. Submissions should be projected as Division I or II College or Pro Prospects. Players selected will be exempt from Regional Try-Outs.
