Josh participated at our showcase at the Trenton Thunder this past July.  He was a solid performer behind the plate with accurate throws and pop times at the 2.10 mark.  Good blocking skills and sound mechanics make it difficult for runners to advance.  He continues to work hard on all areas of his position.  As a hitter, his .400 BA and 16 RBI’s this past high school season showed why he is a solid hitter.  Good power to all fields and a long ball threat.  Josh demonstrates a quick bat with pop.

Scouting Report
We were first introduced to Elvin at the Classic Tryouts at St. John’s University in New York and found a “diamond in the rough”.  He stood out as a big time prospect from a field of 17 catchers who were putting it on the line for selection to our Classics.  His overall field presence, poise and leadership was quite evident from the start of the day.  He was “hands down” one of the top catching prospects that we had seen in the 12 years that we have been running our organization.  His catcher’s release time was consistently in the 1.85 to 1.89 range.  He ran very well for a catcher in the 7.2 range and showed better than average power in the cage.   Also a factor to be considered is his size and aggressiveness on the field.  After seeing him compete against high caliber talent at the Classic we are now fully convinced that he can play at high level Division I in college and will be drafted in the middle rounds of the 2004 Major League Draft.  Although he is getting a lot of interest from DI Colleges he is more than open to other colleges.

Darin recently completed his first season with the Auburn Doubledays (Toronto Blue Jays) of the New York-Penn League (A) and was instrumental in the Doubleday's playoff win over the Brooklyn Cyclones, hitting a two run homerun and making a spectacular defensive play to seal the victory and complete a two game sweep. John plays for Xaverian HS, which is rated as one of the top programs in the country.  He is a solidly build athlete who is a team leader and very aggressive for his catchers position. Check his stats above and you will see he is quite a hitter and hits the long ball.  Having two more seasons to go, he should develop into a heavily recruited prospect.  Jon also can play the corners and play them well.  He had a super tournament in Jupiter, Florida while playing against Division I caliber competition.  Although it is to early to project his possible Major league potential, we can say he raised a number eye brows at the tournament.  We fully expect he will be hearing from many colleges as well!
