National Battle of The States II

Tournament Summary

Team Illinois and Team Mid America Co-Champions

Battle of the States II - 2005

There was a tremendous threat of a wash out due to Hurricane Katrina at the Battle of the States II in August, but the storm moved South and the event was sparred.  The event was held at the Houston Astros Spring Training Complex in Kissimmee Florida.  After three days of heavy battle in beautiful Florida weather, it came down to Team Illinois and Team Mid America in the final game in the Astros Stadium.  Both teams had played six nearly flawless games and earned their right to play for the championship.  Only two innings of the final game were played as the rains finally came.  A decision was made to crown both teams as Co-Champions.  Both teams will be flashing their rings during the off-season.

The showcase tournament drew nearly 40 colleges and a number of Pro Scouts despite the fact that the hurricane was looming.  There was some awesome talent displayed at the event including a number of long homeruns and 90 MPH pitching.  Our thanks go out to the staff at the Osceola Stadium Complex and the Houston Astros for hosting this fine event.  Note below team photos of Co-Champions.
