National Battle of The States III - 2006

Tournament Summary 
Team Gainesville

The Battle of the States III was held October 20^th, 21^st, and 22^nd at the Osceola County Stadium Complex in Kissimmee Florida.  The showcase tournament featured 12 teams from the Eastern sea-board and over 50 colleges and Pro-Scouts.  Per usual the talent was superb and the tournament was won by Team Gainesville coached by Roger Strecker.  This was the second Battle of the States Championship for Team Gainesville. The MVP of the tournament was Joey Budnick.  The runner-up was Team Ohio, coached by  Jack Mendenhall.  Both squads played flawless baseball throughout the tournament.  Despite the fact that it was a wood bat event, there were many extra base hits throughout the three days.  The colleges were busy evaluating and recruiting the players.  The weather was great as the temperature was in the low 80’s with no humidity.
