National Battle of The States Underclassmen
Tournament SummaryTeam Champion - Tampa
December 2006
Team Tampa after a slow start roared back and won the Underclassmen Championship in the finals over Team Jacksonville. Tampa was coached by Don Reed, who incidentally is the winningest coach ever for the Cape Cod League.
The showcase tournament drew over 29 colleges and a number of Pro Scouts. The Talent was excellent despite the fact that these prospects were all 2008 and 2009 grads. Many of these prospects will be invited to our elite Classic events in 2007 to further their recruitment. The Most Valuable Player is voted by the Blue-Grey Staff was Wesley Freeman of All Saints Academy in Lakeland Florida.
Our thanks go out to the staff at the Naimoli Complex and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for hosting this fine event. We also want to thank the Radisson St. Petersburg for their hospitality.
Winning Team Photo will be posted to the website shortly.
